The City of Westerville is currently planning a highway construction project involving Cleveland Avenue and Schrock Road. Eminent domain may be used to obtain the land necessary to complete the project.

The construction project will provide capacity and safety improvements to Cleveland Avenue between I-270 and St. Ann’s Hospital. Additional northbound and southbound lanes will be constructed along Cleveland Avenue and an additional eastbound lane on Schrock Road will provide dual right turn lanes at Cleveland Avenue.

In addition, the I-270 interchange will be reconfigured to eliminate weaving along Cleveland Avenue. Sidewalk and bicycle facilities will be constructed in the Sharon Woods Park and St. Ann’s and Mt. Carmel hospitals.

This project has received a $5 million grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Safety Funding and an additional $5 million federal grant.

Land acquisition for the $12.5 million project is expected to take place this year. A public open house will be hosted by the City in late January 2014.

If you have been notified by the City of Westerville that your property is needed for this construction project, you should consult a qualified Ohio eminent domain attorney. Clark, Perdue & List may be able to help.
