Plans to widen Hamilton Road in Gahanna are underway. This is a joint project of the City of Gahanna and Franklin County. Eminent domain may be necessary to obtain the needed rights-of-way to complete the construction.

Plans include widening Hamilton Road between Clark State Road and Johnstown Road to two lanes in each direction with a fifth lane for center turn lane, construction of sidewalks on the east side of Hamilton Road and a shared use path on the west side. Roundabouts will be constructed at Hamilton Road and Clark State and at Hamilton Road and the school entrance.

The widening project is scheduled to begin construction in 2015, with right of way acquisition anticipated to begin in early 2014.

If you are a property owner on Hamilton Road between Clark State Road and Johnstown Road and have been notified by Franklin County that a portion of your property will be needed for this widening project, you are entitled to adequate compensation. You do not have to accept the amount the government is willing to pay for your property.

If you have questions about how the process works, contact the Ohio eminent domain attorneys at Clark, Perdue & List.
