Several road construction projects are in the works in Dublin, Ohio. Acquisition of the land needed for the projects is underway. Eminent domain is always a potential when a government agency needs land for public projects.

Utility relocation and moving of a gas line in the Hard and Sawmill road area will be done this summer as the Hard/Sawmill Road project with Dublin and the City of Columbus approaches. The City of Columbus plans to widen Hard Road and the City of Dublin will make intersection improvements at Hard and Sawmill Road. According to City of Dublin Engineer Paul Hammersmith, property acquisition for the project and utility work will occur this summer. In addition, the Ohio Department of Transportation will add another northbound lane of travel to Sawmill Road off Interstate 270.

Land is also being acquired in the area of Glick and Dublin roads. Work to add turn lanes at that intersection is anticipated to begin later in the summer.

“We continue to work with Shawnee Hills and Delaware County on the Glick and Dublin road intersection,” said Hammersmith. “We plan to be in front of council on July 1 for the acceptance of the bid. It’s a four-month construction project, we’re working on land acquisition right now.”
