Trulicity® is an injectable drug used to treat type 2 diabetes.  It is part of a class of drugs commonly known as glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) agonists.  Other drugs in this class include Ozempic®, Rybelsus® and Wegovy®.

Some of the common side effects of GLP-1 drugs include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Unfortunately, research has suggested that GLP-1 agonists have been associated with gastroparesis—stomach paralysis where patients take far longer than normal to digest their food.

Type 2 diabetes patients who inject Trulicity® and other GLP-agonists and develop gastroparesis may experience one of more of several painful symptoms, including:

  • Acid reflux
  • Bloating
  • Constipation
  • Lost appetite
  • Malnutrition

More significantly, a failure to properly and timely digest food may lead to bowel obstruction or blockage requiring hospitalization and surgery.

At Clark, Perdue & List, we are currently investigating claims involving GLP-1 agonists and gastroparesis.  If you or a loved one has been prescribed a GLP-1 agonist and has experienced complications of gastroparesis, please contact us for more information.
