Trucking companies must retain all truck parts and accessories in a “safe and proper operating condition at all times.” In that regard, drivers must complete a written vehicle inspection report at the end of each shift. Truck companies must retain maintenance records must be retained for at least one year (or six months after the truck leaves the company’s control.)Improper truck maintenance can result in traffic crashes and injuries.
