Clark Perdue is investigating claims against Zimmer Holdings, Inc. concerning their Durom Cup Total Hip Replacement System.
These products, routinely implanted to relieve hip pain-and expected to last for many years-have left many patients living with pain that was equal to or worse than the pain they were experiencing prior to surgery. Many patients have been forced to have additional surgery to remove the hip replacement hardware.
What is the problem with the Durom Cup?
While no medical device lasts forever, the Durom Cup Total Hip Replacement System has, in many cases, an extraordinarily high early failure rate. Unfortunately, in cases involving early failure, the bond that is supposed to attach the cup to the patient's bone has failed. This results in substantial pain and the need for revision surgery.
Who manufactures the Durom Cup?
The Durom Cup Total Hip Replacement System is manufactured by Zimmer Holdings, Inc. Zimmer is based in Warsaw, Indiana. Its 2009 sales were approximately $4.1 billion.
Who has a claim?
Anyone who has had the Durom Cup Total Hip Replacement System initially implanted after 2005, and has subsequently had a revision surgery because the device failed, may have a claim.
